Reading Cultures – Semester 2, 2017

May 26, 2017

Reading Cultures is an exciting new subject offered at Trinity College Queensland that provides an opportunity to explore some of the challenges and possibilities associated with cross-cultural engagement.

Our weekly gatherings will involve listening, story-telling and active participation, and my suspicion is that in learning what it means to ‘read’ cultures we will also learn what it means to ‘read’ ourselves.

Some of our lectures will involve presentations from special guests, who will join us to share their own unique perspectives and insights, and there will be plenty of time given to classroom discussion and debate.

There will also be work required of you between lectures: listening, reading, engaging, and interpreting the cultures around you.

We will meet face-to-face each week on Wednesday evenings, at Trinity College Queensland in Auchenflower, from 6pm-8.45pm in Semester 2. We may even arrange to meet off-site for some immersed learning in the local community.

I hope you are able to join us as we embark on this exciting journey of discovery together!!
