SUMMARY:Trinity Unplugged: Good Spiritual and Mental Health: Self-Doctoring for Belief-Sickness
DESCRIPTION:Overcome the grip of ‘belief sickness’ with Rev Dr Neil Pembroke as he unpacks the impact of unhealthy thinking and offers helpful strategies for lasting change. \nVirtually all of us suffer the ill-effects of irrational and unhealthy thoughts from time to time. Sometimes\, unhealthy thinking becomes ingrained. When this is the case\, we suffer from what some call “belief sickness”. \nBelief sickness takes psychological\, moral\, and spiritual forms. If\, for example\, a person believes that unless they are a complete success in life\, they are a total failure\, bouts of depression will likely ensue. Some Christians are afflicted by the belief sickness that if only my faith is strong enough\, nothing bad will come my way. \nYour speaker Rev Dr Neil Pembroke is an Associate Professor at Trinity College Queensland and an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Queensland. Neil specialises in pastoral care\, practical theology\, and the intersection of psychology and religion. His research interests encompass pastoral counselling\, spirituality in healthcare\, and the development of personal and spiritual maturity. \nRegister your interest by contacting ask@trinity.qld.edu.au or call on 3377 9950. \nThursday 27th February from 6:30pm at Trinity College Queensland\, Level 1\, 60 Bayliss Street\, Auchenflower. The session will also be available online. \n6.30pm light refreshments available\n7pm Intro to Neil\n7.10pm Talk\n8pm Q&A\n8.30pm finish \nRSVP by: Thursday\, 27th February 12pm latest.
