‘Back when it was birthed, the Uniting Church in Australia had a clear mission. We’re still a church getting amongst what Jesus is continuing to do in Australia, now in a post-truth, post-secular, post-everything world,’ says facilitator, Nigel Rogers.

‘We’re going back to looking at the ‘Basis of Union’, a document that is so pivotal in understanding our identity and purpose as the Uniting Church. Looking back at why we exist will give us a deeper understanding of who we are, and where we’re going.’

This course is designed to give anyone connected with the Uniting Church a detailed understanding of the Basis of Union, with particular attention being given to theological influences such as the “Mission of God” and the “Faith of the Church” and engaging key questions for the contemporary church with a view to considering new possibilities regarding the UCA’s capacity to exist as a missional movement.
