Trinity College Queensland and The Lakes College have partnered this year to deliver a professional development program for staff.

Trinity College Queensland Acting Principal Dr Scott Downman delivered the latest professional development session for The Lakes College Faith and Values Education (FaVE) teachers last Friday (September 5).

Dr Downman said the school-based program is focused on strategies for engaging students in cross-cultural dialogue and exploring worldview and Christian formation.

“The aim of the professional development sessions is to give the FaVE staff curriculum, strategies and methods for engaging students in conversations about faith. The sessions have involved sharing Scripture Union’s CHAT (Cultural Hearing Asking Telling) program, which includes a complete curriculum for delivery in schools. I recently wrote SU’s CHAT for Churches program which not only focuses on understanding cultural diversity but deals with key issues relevant to high school students such as developing healthy friendships, bullying, building community and understanding diversity.

“We are excited to have had The Lakes College invite us to share our expertise and experience with their staff. It’s been a brilliant initiative,” Dr Downman said. The next professional development session will be held in October.
